An at-large council challenger’s campaign is getting a boost from former Boston police commissioner William Gross.

Gross, head of BPD from August 2018 to January 2021, endorsed Will Onuoha for one of the four at-large seats on the Boston City Council last week.

To the Editor: Boston is the best city in the world. It has given me, and countless others, access to limitless opportunity. When you love something as much as I love this city, it is important to not just celebrate our successes, but also to identify our challenges and work tirelessly to fix them. This is what I have committed my professional life to, and it is what I will do as your Boston City Councilor At-Large.

Will Onuoha, a long-time leader in housing, utilities and other departments in the city, has announced he will run for a at-large seat on the City Council, looking to bring “professionalism” to the embattled body.
